General Information:

Few things to keep in mind before your scheduled tour:

  • Tours do not start and end in the same location.
  • Price is strictly for 2 people (with the exception of 2 adults and 2 kids) irrespective of the number of people with a camera.
  • We may be able to pick you up at your hotel or apartment, if you are staying in the City Centre (Centro Storico)
  • Tours run rain or shine (you can get some great photos in the rain!) but it is possible to cancel in severe weather conditions and get a full refund.
  • We reserve the right to cancel at any time. If we need to cancel, we will notify you as soon as possible, and you will be refunded in full. We are not responsible or liable for any damages you may suffer because of cancellation, and your sole recourse is refund of your payment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions:

Q1. Do I need to purchase in advance?

Yes, you must pay a deposit or make full payment in advance and both are fully refundable if you cancel 48hrs before the start of the photo walk. In the event of bad weather payment will be refunded (please see What happens in case of bad weather?). Full payment must be received before the start of the tour unless you are settling the difference in cash. Another issue that we have faced occaisionally is that ATM limits create embarrassing situations when clients can't retrieve enough cash. Please come prepared. We don't like to chase you up.

Q2. Why do I need to pay a deposit?

We are not full time tour guides, we are photographers both editorial and news and do this with pleasure to show visitors the beauty of Venice. As we take the day off we don't like to be left waiting and not informed of cancellations. Please let us know 48hrs in advance if your plans change.

Q3. Why has my tour been cancelled?

If we do not hold a refundable Paypal deposit or full payment do not assume you tour is confirmed. If we do not hear from you 48hrs before the tour, we will automatically cancel the tour.

Q4. Do you only accept Euro payments?

We only accept payments in Euro, you can pay via Paypal using Visa, Mastercard, American Express etc... for your conveneince but we only accept Euro. Exchange rates are dealt with by payment portals. We ONLY accept Euro.

Q5. Can we take children on the tour?

Children are always welcome and we have had some fantastic tours with young kids! We recommend children over 10 years old as the tour involves a lot of walking and little legs can easily tire.

Q6. What about restroom and refreshments?

There are unfortunatley NO official restrooms on the tour so we recommend you to use restrooms before the tour begins. In the event of an emergency we will do our best to accomodate.

There are several stores and cafes to buy refreshments along our tour routes.

Q7. Do I need a travel card or waterbus ticket?

No as most of our tours can be completed by walking.

Q8. What is the best tour size?

We recommend group sizes of max 4 people. We can accomodate larger groups but please lets us know in advance.

Q9. What happens in case of bad weather?

We go out in all types of weather and some amazing shots have been taken in inclement conditions. In the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions we will cancel tours on safety grounds and allow you to reschedule, schedule permitting, or give you a full refund.

Q10. What should I bring with me on the tour?

Please wear comfortable walkig shoes and clothes that allow you to move freely. In summer consider bringing a hat, sun cream and water and in winter a thin pair of gloves. If it is raining please bring a rain jacket and umbrella and some protective bags for your camera.

Always try to bring a spare memory card and some batteries.

Q11. Do I have to have a camera to join the tour?

Yes but it can be you mobile phone or a disposable camera as both will allow you to expand your creative vision. Our tours also provide you with a chance to explore the real Venice which can be enjoyed without a camera.

Q12. What kind of camera should I bring on the tour?

Anything photographic device you are comfortable with, it can be a disposable camera, a digital camera, a film camera or even a mobile phone. The tour provides a hands-on learning experience for participants to explore Venice visually and to expand the ways in which they think creatively. Many people have also enjoyed the tour without a camera.

Q13. Do I need to bring a tripod?

You may wish to bring a tripod if you are interested in doing some shots involving motion blur or if you particularly like shooting with a tripod; however, the vast majority of participants do not bring a tripod.

Q14. I have little experience of photography and/or my camera?

The tours are designed for participants of all skill levels. The tours provide an opportunity for both experienced and novice photographers alike to expand their creative vision. If you wish to learn more about your particular camera, there will be plenty of time for you to ask questions along the way. If you are not very familiar with your camera’s functions, it is often helpful if you bring along the manual.

Q15. What will be the photographic subjects?

1.Camera and Exposure: Camera Settings, Automatic, Semi Auto and Manual Mode, Speed and Aperture Priority, Light Metering 2.Composition: Cropping, Perspectives, Rules of Thirds, Lens Choice, Depth of Field (DoF), 3.Creativity: Editorial or Fine Art? Choice of Subjects, Point of Views, Street Photography, Improve your Creativity 4.Light Situations: Available Light, Photography at Sunrise/Sunset and Golden Hours (If you need a Tripod just ask me)

Q16. I have chosen the Portrait option how many pictures will I receive? I want to get all the RAW files?

If you have chosen the 3h Photo Walk Portrait option you will get about 8 edited images. If you have chosen the Gondola Ride Photo Walk you will receive 20-25 edited images. Please be aware you will receive only jpg files and not RAW (Do not even ask for them!!) and only a selection of images we consider to be the "best shots". We may take about 200+ shots in a 3h session but will only send a small selection of the best shots. Be aware this is not a full portrait session with lights, reflectors, etc... On request you can have a free gallery for one year.
